Bluemoon Hosting planned to enter the web hosting market, but they needed a way to stand out from their competitors. The web hosting market is full of companies offering virtually identical products. In developing a plan to help Bluemoon stand out, we started by identifying a more specific target market. It was decided that web designers represented an effective target segment. Web design professionals as a target market offered several advantages: they have the knowledge to look beyond prices in web hosting offerings, they are often involved in communities, making word of mouth an effective marketing strategy and when they choose a host they often bring their own clients to that company. It was determined that by reaching this smaller target segment, a larger market could be reached.
In order to reach this market InfinityForge was developed, with the purpose of providing web design firms a means of managing of clients and projects, as well as providing support to their clients. The software is included as part of Bluemoon's Professional and Reseller hosting plans. In addition, several InfinityForge modules were developed specifically for the use of Bluemoon. InfinityForge and these specialized modules are used by Bluemoon as their client area.
Bluemoon Hosting went live the 24th of May, 2002.
